Cloudhopper 215a on the way by geoffsebesta Cloudhopper 215a on the way by geoffsebesta
A page in process; laying out the landscape. This time I'm building the clouds first, then adding the architecture. If you want to know how I make those clouds, the answer is simple:

texture brushes
darkening by 10, changing hue by 5, adding 5 saturation
painting over it again with white brushes at 62% opacity
doing it again
and again
then using the liquify tool and the warp tool to drag it around and smoosh it around
then copying the layer, putting a four point gaussian blur on it, darkening it by 30 or so and adding 20 saturation and 10 hue, then moving it under the original layer and merging them
then erasing with texture brushes
then darkening by 10, changing hue by 5, adding 5 saturation, and painting over all tops of all the mounds with a little white texture brush at 62% opacity

sometimes I go through the layers and, in the layers dialogue, drop the top white value of each one by one (255 to 254 to 253) as they recede into the distance. This works for storytelling but is not how clouds look in real life. Clouds are basically 255 all the freakin' time, they are much brighter than the sky around them.
